Cortijo Balzaín is located in the Sierra Nevada National Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, and only 8 km of the wonderful city of Granada.

Balzaín is an absolutely charming peaceful and quiet place ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature. These holiday cottages recall a small village in the countryside, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, pine forests and country roads that invite you to browse.

From its privileged location you can see splendid views of the city of Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada Peaks. From their viewpoints you can watch magnificent sunsets with the city of Granada in the background while breathing peace and calm in the late afternoon. At dusk, the lights of the city and all the villages in the valley, spread like a blanket at the foot of Sierra Nevada, will invite you to stay in expectant silence.

Balzaín's origin dates back to dates before 17th century. This old farmhouse has been restored into 9 holiday cottages by preserving its original structure, including stone walls and wooden ceilings and cane, keeping all its rustic and authentic atmosphere of its history.

The names of the houses evoke their former uses and our ancestors' rural life: the stable, the stall, the barn, the straw loft, the poultry yard...

You can enjoy Meson Rural with WIFI zone, saline pool, mini-farm, playground and sports, and its museum of plows, threshing and farm tools, all within the premises.

The Department of Labor and Industry of the Government of Andalusia and RAAR (Andalusian Network of Rural Accommodation) awarded this project "Best Green Tourism Initiative" in 2000 for its "excellent example of restoration and recovery of the architectural heritage, a clear commitment to quality green tourism, contributing to the revitalization and diversification of the local economy and designed under the criteria of sustainability and preservation of the environment."

Cortijo Balzaín has the official Superior Holiday Cottage status, and is certified to 3 Spikes by ASETUR (Spanish Green Tourism Association). It is also certified to ISO 14001 (environmental management) and branded Andalusia Natural Park.
